"I don't believe in democracy because behind its façade mafias, services and lodges rule. I'm a monarchist because I value freedom and respect tradition."

Grzegorz Braun

Braunism is a monarchist, economically right to far-right and culturally far-right ideology based on the teachings of Grzegorz Braun and his party, the Confederation of the Polish Crown.

History

[edit]

Grzegorz Braun took part in anti-comunist opposition during the PRL era - he was member of Orange Alternative and Polish-Czech-Slovak Solidarity. After end of communism, Braun worked for Polish Radio Wrocław and TVP, and as a film director - he directed about 30 movies (for example: Comrade general, New Poland and Luther and protestant revolution). He's also publicist of Najwyższy Czas! and File:MagnaPolonia.png Magna Polonia.

He started his political career in 2007 trying to run for Senate as candidate of Union of Real Politics but didn't collect enough signatures. In 2010 presidential election he supported Jarosław Kaczyński. Five years later, in 2015, Braun ran for president leading his own electoral committee - "God Bless You!", and received 0.09% of votes. In 2019 he announced his candidacy in mayoral election in Gdańsk, he was endorsed by National Movement and KORWiN and received 11.86% of votes. Before European election the same year Braun was among founders of Confederation, list led by him got the best result among party's list but the party as a whole didn't pass electoral threshold. In next election, this time parliamentary one, Confederation won 11 seats (this included Braun whose result was gain the best one among all of party's candidates). In 2020 presidential primary he got into second (final) round and was defeated by Krzysztof Bosak. During covid-19 pandemics, Braun opposed sanitarian restrictions and File:MandVacc.png aims to introduce vaccine mandates. In 2023 parliamentary election Braun got re-elected while his party, the KKP, got 4 seats (among Confederation which gained 18 seats). In 2024 European election, Braun was elected MEP (again winning the best result among party's candidates).

In 2025 Confederation was about to again organize primary election. Yet, the primary was cancelled and File:Mentzenism.png Sławomir Mentzen announced his start in presidential election. As a reaction Braun declared his start in presidential election and was later expelled from Confederation. Later, KKP as a whole was expelled. Braun's campaign was endorsed by Janusz Korwin-Mikke and his new KORWiN party, Real Europe Movement, Congress of New Right and PolExit, later also by File:Skirigiełło.png Aldona Skirgiełło and National Rebirth of Poland. He was fourth among the candidates, winning 6,34% of votes.

Before the second round Braun issued seven questions to remaining candidates ( Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki). Only Nawrocki answered though Braun criticized this answer as not addressing the questions.[2] Nawrocki's candidacy was endorsed by people associated with Braun's campaign, including Janusz Korwin-Mikke[3] and Stanisław Michalkiewicz. Few days before second round, Braun declared he will vote for Nawrocki.[4] After the election, KKP formed its own parliamentary group after Roman Fritz and Włodzimierz Skalik were joined by Sławomir Zawiślak, long-time member of Law and Justice party.

Beliefs

[edit]

Braunism supports a free market economy, low taxes, abolition of business licenses and privatization of state-owned enterprises. It believes that private property is rooted in the natural law and should be one of the foundations of social order, as well as the foundation of the economy.

Braunism supports restoration of the monarchy and intronization of Christ the King.

KKP voices strong support for traditional hierarchies and declares that it "would prefer to play different games but right now the democracy is being played".

During his 2015 presidential campaign, one of Braun's main slogans was "Church, School, Range". It meant:

After the creation of KKP, these views formed its core.

However, the party is also a nationalist one - it opposes immigration, especially Muslim immigration, as it believes that it will lead to the islamization of Europe. The party also opposes Poland's membership in the European Union.

Rhetoric

[edit]

List of aphorisms and catchphrases coined by Grzegorz Braun together with explanations.

Russo-German Condominium under Jewish trusteeship catchprase used by Grzegorz Braun to describe Poland's status after 1989.

Phrase "Russo-German condominium" was firstly used by Jarosław Kaczyński, but then part about "Jewish trusteeship" was added by Braun in 2015. Five years later, in 2020, he added reflection about American backing of Israeli interests.

Eurokolkhoz is used by KKP party to describe European Union.

According to Braun and his party, EU's regulations and ideological pressure resemble Soviet ones. They point out that sovereignty of Poland is slowly taken away by the eurocracy.

File:JudeoRealism.png Judeo-Realism is catchphrase used to describe Braun's opposition towards Israel and Jewish influence. Its opposite is File:JudeoRomanticism.png Judeoromanticism - uncritically favourable and supportive attitude towards Jews and State of Israel.

In his view, Jewish influence is weaking Poland and keep it in state of dependence. However, his opposition is not towards any particular Jew nor Jews as followers of Judaism[5] but against, what he refers to as, Jewish lobby.

File:Lzeright.png United Łże-Right is used to describe PiSism and its coalition partners as pseudo-right-wing coalition or right-wing-in-name-only coalition.

The term Łże-prawica (lie-right or pseudo-right) to describe PiS was most likely coined by Roman 'Qń' Giertych[6], then forgotten for a while. Later the term was picked up and modified by Braun by adding word "United", after PiS's coalition name "United Right". Usage if this term emphasizes of the fact, that PiS holds up no truly right-wing values, only decorating themselves with national aesthetics.

File:Gasnica.png Fire-extinguisher Front is a term used to describe cooperation of political forces opposing pandemic restrictions and participation in the war.

Personality and Behaviour

[edit]

Braunism generally speaks Polish and uses rich language, full of metaphors and sometimes even poetic. He also speaks English well.

He tends to say controversial things about, for example: gays, Israel (and Jews in general) or Ukraine.

He's mostly seem hanging out with Korwinism. In past his official allies were File:Mentzenism.png Mentzenism and Neo-Endecja - fellow members of Konfederacja coalition. He's also present on anti-immigration marches or demonstrations against, as he calls it, "Ukrainization of Poland".

Stylistic Notes

[edit]

He may be drawn wearing glasses (normal ones or sunglasses) or with the File:Gasnica.png fire extinguisher.

Instead of saying "Good morning" or "Hello", Braunism starts his speeches with "God bless you".
