Kurzgesagtism is an ideology based of the YouTube channel known as Kurzgesagt, which makes videos discussing topics on space, the environment, evolution and biology and sometimes touching politics. It is a very technologically progressive and internationalist ideology.

Overview

[edit]

On Kurzgesagt's YouTube channel, they often express certain ideologies and philosophies, so we are going to have a look at them.

Climate Change

[edit]

Kurzgesagt highly emphasizes the importance of climate change, having many videos[1] about how the fossil fuel industry and other parts of life(such as fracking, meat, and pollution) are causing major effects to the climate of the earth, so Kurzgesagtism is highly against oligarchies and fossil fuel monopolies.

Government View

[edit]

While not too much is known about Kurzgesagt's view on government control, it is very clear that they are leaning Libertarian based on a few videos such as [2] where they debate the topic of Universal Basic Income where the government has increased leverage, there are also other examples throughout their other videos.

Internationalism

[edit]

While not opposing nationalism, Kurzgesagt has a very internationalist and globalist view with examples of them supporting international support for climate change and to support third world countries through foreign aid as well as supporting a multiculturalist or at least interculturalist world view.

Kurzgesagt has a very Progressive view including defending marijuana[3] supporting technological advancement obviously, pro evolution and constructivism and is for legalization of some drugs for safe use.

Economics

[edit]

While it's very hard to pinpoint the economics of Kurzgesagt, it is likely that they support a social economy as in many videos they show support for welfare and increased healthcare while supporting a market economy.

Galacticism

[edit]

Kurzgesagt is a channel exhibiting fascination with colonisation of space, for example their videos on stellar engines.

  • Galacticism - "Around 94% of the galaxies we can see, are already gone forever", but the rest of space is ours for the taking
  • Environmentalism - "Almost every year breaks some horrible record" We must save the planet while we can!
  • Multiculturalism - We are all people of the earth and we should learn and grow from other cultures
  • File:Progress.png Progressivism - We should focus on newer technologies and grow as a society as we develop from the older
  • Social Democracy - All people should be able to have affordable healthcare and education.
  • Social Libertarianism - UBI is a cool idea. But there are still some problems.
  • Nuclear Power Advocacy - While it is true that nuclear incidents have claimed many lives, the pollution from thermal electrical plants has killed way more. The best course of action would be to combine nuclear power with renewable energy sources.

Goose Gang

[edit]
  • Capitalism - I love market economies and free trade and all, but why do you refuse to help the environment sometimes. Some are saying you might need to be ended in order to stop it so why are you not listening?
  • Trumpism - I love how you tried to jumpstart space programs again, but why did you pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement?

Fossil Fuel Corporations

[edit]
  • Authoritarian Capitalism - YOU'RE DESTROYING THE ENVIRONMENT FOR PROFITS YOU SCHIEßE
  • Corporatocracy - YOU'RE JUST HIM AGAIN
