United Social States of America

The United Social States of America or USSA for short, is the largest of the Post-USA states, Stretching from Colorado to the East Coast. It is a Federal Multi Party Presidential Republic and has been led by the American Socialist Party for most of its history. In the modern day, despite having a large economy it suffers from a rather high unemployment rate, High rate of crime, and Lackluster military.

Prelude

In 1959 the worst recession since 1929 hit and the global economy crumbled, as a result, the American Socialist Party became popular as a result and had major support. In 1969 the situation reached a head with the Civil Rights act being passed causing the southern states to secede. This caused a chain reaction that resulted in the Federal Government Disngrating. The ASP would take over Chicago, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, and Philadelphia, and thus the second American civil war had begun.

The ASP can trace back its roots to the CPPA convention where in 1926 the Socialist and Progressive Parties merged into a single organization the ASP. The ASP would support FDR and would a part of the New Deal Coalition until 1945 when it spilt off due to opposing the atomic bombings. Through the 50s it would support civil rights efforts, however, it would truly take off after the 1959 recession when many workers turned to it due to being devastated by it. It Would win the 1966 midterm elections and narrowly lose the 1968 presidential election. In 1969 the Second American Civil War Would Began and while the ASP was initially aligned with the Federal government, it would eventually turn against it and revolt in 1970 after 5 years of war the 2ACW would end and the ASP would declare the USSA. The ASP has led the USSA since its foundation except for a brief stint from 1984 to 1986. The ASP would make a rightward turn in the 90s due to economic stagnation however as of late it has been turning left again.

American Social Air Force

The American Social Air Force has 45,809 Men and about 3,800 Aircraft making it the 4th largest in the world however despite this it suffers from several issues, notably having Outdated equipment and small fleets of bomber and transport aircraft with ACWS and recon aircraft being nonexistent. Military Expansion

With the Increasing Threat of the UK looming in 2022 the USSA congress approved the National Defense Act which would greatly expand the USSA military. For the Army, all divisions are to be expanded by 5,000 men and Infantry Divisions would have 100 tanks added for support. In addition to This 3 more ranger regiments will be added. The Navy would see Suburmine Squadrons be Expanded from 12 Subs to 24 Subs and one more squadron will be added and the current subs would be phased out with a new highly advanced class of Suburmines, other changes would see the USSS Buffalo currently the only ASN carrier would be replaced with a new carrier and the 2 battleships would be upgraded, as well as an Expansion of the Resupply, Minewepper, and Troop Transport Flottilas from 3 ships to 5 ships. In the Air Force, 9 new fighter squadrons and 3 new bomber squadrons will be added in addition to this ACWS aircraft will be built for the first time in 30 years as well as phasing outdated equipment like the F-104 and F-4 as well as the development of a new fighter and expansion of the spy satellite network and missile defense system. In other areas, the coast guard will have their corvettes replaced with new ones and coastal defense will be built along with the creation of the civilian guard a minutemen-like Militia.

Socialist Federation of Europe

The Socialist Federation of Europe was formed between France, North Italy, and Czechoslovakia in 1981. Since then it has expanded quite a bit, having nearly tripled in size. The Member States still have some level of independence with their own military and government structures intact. However, the Federation has their own military units, Court System, and is a single diplomatic entity.

Formation of North Italy

The long road to the foundation of the Federation began in the 1948 Italian election, which in this timeline ended with a Communist Party Victory, but to the US, this was unacceptable as a result, in 1949, backed by the US, South Italy succeeded and became a monarchy again.

Federation of Japan

The Japanese Federation is a country controlling all the Japanese islands except Hokkaido which is controlled by the Japanese Socialist Republic. The Federation was formed by the victorious Democratic Forces after winning the Japanese Civil War in 1980. The Federation is Nominally Democratic but the elections are a sham and the country is run by the vast technocratic bureaucracy largely to prevent political radicalism from spreading, despite these tensions simmering just below the surface and the country may be heading into some tough times.

After the 1959 recession, the UK would suffer unstable Government after unstable government until after the loss of the Falklands and Northern Ireland during the Prime Ministership of Tony Benn resulted in a Miltary Coup& Junta until 1993 when democracy was restored. Afterward, the newly formed British Centrist Party would lead the country from 1993-2014 when due to the secession of Scotland it lost power to the British Salvation Front a Fascist and Neo imperialist party, they precede to beef up the military and invaded Scotland in 2017 and since then has been slowly expanding reclaiming parts of there empire.

In this timeline, the USA provided more support to the Nationalists as a result, the Chinese Civil War bogged down into a stalemate until 1955, when a ceasefire was signed. To this very day, china remains divided.

State of California

The State of California is a nation occupying Southern California and Part of Nevada. It is the Descendent of the Original government of the State of California Pre-2ACW. It was originally democratic however increasing unrest through the late 70s and 80s caused the two largest parties the Californian Democratic Party and California National Party to merge into the National Democratic Party and elections were officially suspended after 1984. In the Mid-90s the Democratic faction purged the nationalists in an event known as the Pink Terror, while after these elections were officially held again the NDP was the sole legal party effectively making these elections a sham. Since the 2010s tensions have been rising with Desert and war appears on the Horizon.

The New York City Trade Zone was created in 1971 by corporations based in New York City to protect themselves from the 2ACW with the plan to join again once the war was over however with the USSA winning the war(for the most part) it never ended joining again and would remain independent and was often described as Cyberpunk Dystopia. However, it would eventually end in 2021 when the UK forcibly annexed it.

Founded as a buffer state between the west and the east the German Republic is now the leader European Alliance the main counterbalance to the Founded as a buffer state between the West and the East the German Republic is now the leader of the European Alliance, the main counterbalance to the Socialist Federation of Europe.

6th French Repuplic

The 6th French Republic was formed in 1969 after the Revolution of 1968 forced the government to flee to their remaining colonies. In the modern day, it is a member of the European Alliance despite not being in Europe and still claims to be the legitimate government of France.
