Beryist Society refers to the practices, ideology and policies of the discord server of the same name (Beryist Society). It promotes hate speech censorship, trend assimilationism, critical support of Beryist-aligned ideologies (liberalism, libertarianism etc.), devotion to Bery and seamonkey worship.

Beliefs

Censorship

Beryist Society actively engages in the censorship of speech and images. Particularly, it censors hate speech towards people based on their identity, pornographic images as well as the swastika (which is often seen as Nazi imagery). This is expressed in Rules 3 and 6 in the official rules channel which are: "No NSFW images of any kind, whether that be pornography or gore" and "No (unironic) discrimination of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to: racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, et cetera.". This is also expressed in Precedent 2 which is "Slurs are now banned. intentional bigoted use of them will be punished with 1 hour mute. all other uses will be punished with 10 minutes".

Cult(s) of Personality

There are two major cults of personality within Beryist Society: One surrounding Bery, the overall leader of the server and one surrounding Iamseamonkey, a well-known and liked moderator. The one surrounding Bery is very small, and mainly exists within only a few lines of text. The one surrounding seamonkey however is much more prominent as Bery has repeatedly time and time again advocated for "seamonkey worship". Although the cults of personality do not amount to much, the two individuals they surround certainly wield authoritarian power within the server. Such as how seamonkey once banned usage of the word "retard".

Trend Identity Assimilationism

One common occurrence within the Beryist Society is the practice of naming oneself after a naming trend which follows a basic outline with minor parts that people can change or edit to their liking. Currently, there are two major naming trends within the server are:

Putting the word "Bery" in one's name (a testament to the cult of personality surrounding the server's leader "Bery")
Naming onself "the (TRUE/FALSE) pope of (insert whatever you like)". This could perhaps hint at Beryist Society being a very religiously diverse society, if it were to exist in real life. This trend was started by nguy and carried out by Duy and M99

Anti-Bonerforcism

Bonerforce was an unpopular user on Beryist Society who got banned after mocking (?) a user's dead family and denying war crimes. Most members of Beryist Society despised Bonerforce (except Rayz9989, File:Ocyt.png OceanClouds, ChronicLuna, and File:Omega1065.png Omega), before and after he got banned, which is why this sentiment was considered to be a tenet of Beryist Society's ideology during his relevancy.

Anti-MCS

During 2022, there was a dweller of PCBMH (the official PCB wiki server at the time) known for being quite neurotic and EVIL, known by none other than Mao-Claro Synthesis/MCS. Many were not all that happy with her presence to say the least, and Beryist Society originally became popular to serve as a bunker from her presence. Ever since MCS has faded into both irrelevancy and inactivity, this sentiment is rarely visible anymore, though it still (arguably) lives on.

Plenderplar, Palostius & Qdemia

Around late June of '23, infamous LARPer and mental hospital escapee Plenderplar, known affectionately as "Peggy", joined Beryist Society and began to express his rather colourful views in #general, before being quickly confined to the new #zoo channel built specifically for him. Some common jokes around this time include the worship of Peggy (especially via the creation of sigma edits), as well as listening to his demands by letting him access the rest of the server in fake replicas of it. A month and a half later, he left the server for good and that'd be the end of him for the longest time.

Peggy made his grand return a whole year later in the form of the lesbian-lovin' File:Palos.png Palostius, a character that denies even knowing who peggy is. He has a collection of crackpot beliefs that you can read on his page (author being lazy, smh). While he left on the Palo account less than a month later, he's currently still around under Qdemia, who surprise, surprise, denies being both Peggy and Palo. Fly-reacting is a meme that originated from Palo's return, with almost every single message by him being reacted with the fly emoji for whatever reason (thanks Aaron).

"The Great Fall"

On the 1st of December 2023, Pirate Tails left Beryist Society. He has listed his reasons as the server getting boring and very unpleasant people being on the server, which is said to include BERNHE0504, a moderator at the time. After this, on the 10th of December a notable and very controversial user Jao was banned after numerous complaints from users. Controversial FPCB member CarrotsRppl2 entered the server a few hours before as well. This angered many people on the wiki server, as they felt Beryist Society is treating users unfairly and BERNHE, who they wanted demoted, was abusing his power to invite FPCB people (this was later disproven). As such, a mass exodus occured from Beryist Society occured featuring people like Nguyenreich, Hydro, Lukko, and Rebel Noodle leaving. In a desperate effort, Carrots was banned and finally, BERNHE left Beryist Society as he believed that it was the only thing that could save the server. After this, most members that left, even Pirate Tails, rejoined. This included BERNHE, although with a caviat that he would not hold mod powers again. This event would significantly hurt activity on BS.^[1]
